Dorchester Art Project

Led by Brain Arts Organization, Dorchester Art Project is an artist-run space in Dorchester MA, Boston’s largest neighborhood. Housing fourteen artists’ studios, a gallery, and a performance space, DAP supports innovative artistic practice outside of the city’s academic institutions and commercial galleries. By providing an alternative space for critically engaged, experimental and emerging artists across disciplines, we seek to foster new connections across Boston’s diverse art communities.

When I began as a design coordinator for Brain Arts, it also meant that I would help with the various projects happening at DAP. One of the earliest tasks I was given was designing a Sponsorship Package for DAP Open Mic.

After some time I was also tasked with redesigning the look of the Open Mic flyers and visual identity.

DAP WORK/SHOP

The work/shop was probably the biggest project i was a part of in regards to dap. the work/shop was a creative space and store front by artists for artists. this concept has since evolved and dap has since developed a new space for this project but these were my designs for the initial rollout of the project. It started with taking photos as a proof of concept which turned into making a postcard and flyer. I made promo gifs and videos as well.

At dap, the theatre, the gallery, and the studios are available for rent. I designed images that were to be printed as well as shared online in order to promote this aspect of dap. my approach was minimalism to establish dap as a blank canvas for creators while also showing what was possible at dap. photos used provided by various artists

At the beginning of 2020 the creative director developed a new year campaign for the gallery with the goal of raising funds by selling affordable prints by artists previously featured in the gallery. we collaborated on the designs using the the featured art.
